While choosing a home security alarm system may seem like a straightforward task, there are actually many considerations involved in choosing the correct alarm system for your home.

Your home alarm system can be as simple as a few relatively inexpensive devices placed at each door and window, or as complicated and as expensive as you wish to go. You can choose monitored services and unmonitored. You can choose to have security cameras, not have security cameras, or put up fake security cameras. You can choose home security systems which alert you in case of fire or carbon monoxide, or again, you can have a monitored system where someone on duty is alerted to your danger before you even become aware and calls emergency personnel for you.

As you can see, one factor which WILL have to be considered is cost.

HOME SECURITY SYSTEM COSTS

Obviously, it is difficult to place a price on the peace that comes with knowing that you have adequately protected your home and your family. However, in the real world, we often have to evaluate the costs of things we desire or need, and this extends to home security systems. Parts and pieces for a home built security system are available from such sources as Radio Shack, which you would expect, and Wal-Mart, which you might not! Even do-it-yourself systems such as these can cost a few hundred dollars and, while providing basic home security, usually will not provide monitoring in the event of your absence. Some do-it-yourself components can be found which will notify emergency response activities without you having to take action yourself, but with every bell and whistle (literally) which you add, the cost will go up.

Now, when I was talking about a do-it-yourself home security system, you probably thought I was giving the good news first. As you read about how expensive this can get, you probably thought that was either the bad news, or the good news going sour.

Wrong. I started off with the BAD news.

The two major advantages I see to do-it-yourself security systems is that you can buy one unit at a time for a relatively low cost, and, if you are the handyman type, you can have the joy of installing the stuff yourself.

Here's the good news.

There are many good quality home security companies out there. You may or may not have heard of ADT, Brinks, and Great Alarms, but you may NOT be familiar with their services and costs. While offers change from time to time and vary from company to company, prices are actually quite reasonable considering services provided. At the time of writing this article, a quick survey of just a few companies found installation costs ranging from free to a little over $300.00. Since these generally are monitored systems, you can expect to pay a monthly fee for the monitoring service, but it usually is only about $30.00 per month. Again, this may vary from company to company, so by all means, shop around.

I personally believe that when you consider what you get with a professionally installed and monitored home security system, you will probably skip the trip to Radio Shack or Wal-Mart and hire one of these companies to install your system.

COMPONENTS AND SERVICES OF A MONITORED HOME SECURITY SYSTEM

Actual components and services will vary from company to company, but here is an overview of the components and services you might expect to get from a home security system.

Home Security System Components

*Command Stations: This may be referred to by various names depending on the service provider. Great Alarms calls it a "command station", ADT a "touchpad", and Brinks a "keypad". From this command point, the system can be armed or disarmed, help can be summoned, warnings can be given to others in the house by means of a device such as a horn, whistle, chime or similar item. It is often possible to get more than one station or keypad installed, such as one in the living area and one in the bedroom.

*Door And Window Sensors: These are generally simple devices, but when you buy them one by one yourself, their cost can really add up. Many professional companies expect to make their money off the monthly monitoring. Home security companies can acquire these items in bulk at much lower prices than you or I would pay, and that is why installation as a package, is often much less than what you would have to pay just for the items, if you bought them individually yourself.

*Motion Detectors: Should an intruder approach your home or by some means gain entry, motion detectors can be used to sense their presence and activate alarms or summon help.

*Remote Controls: In addition to the command station, touchpad, or keypad, many systems include a remote device which you may carry with you. These range from small units suitable to be carried on a keychain to larger units intended to be carried from room to room within your house.

*Sensors: There are sensors available to detect fire, carbon monoxide, heat, moisture, breaking glass and flex.

*Alarms And Other Warning Devices: The old familiar "alarm" is almost passé. You can get sirens, chimes, and even strobe lights to warn you of break-ins or other emergencies.

*Security Cameras: While most home security systems that the average family can afford will not use security cameras, this is still an additional option.

Home Security System Services

Once you have seen the short list of components above, you will have a pretty good idea of what services can be provided. Most commonly, intrusion or activation of a sensor by other means, by fire or carbon monoxide, for example, is the cue for the monitoring team to go into action. Primarily, they can summon police, fire, or emergency medical personnel for you if you are incapacitated or away from home. Since this service is around the clock, it provides you and your family with a sense of security and buffer of safety that may well be worth the cost. Some companies also provide security review services to help you judge your particular home security situation and options for defense. Again, these services, and their costs, vary from company to company, so shop around.

HOME SECURITY ON THE CHEAP

If you honestly feel that a home security system is out of your price range at the moment, there are a few inexpensive steps you can take to possibly improve your situation.

First, make sure that all your doors and windows lock. If several people may have had access to keys previously, go ahead and change the locks and make sure that only the people that need them have keys. This trip to Wal-Mart or Home Depot will be nowhere near as expensive as the cost of a break-in. Make sure all your windows can be locked and ARE locked, except when YOU want them to be unlocked.

Second, light the areas around your home at night where someone could get close and break in. There are solar powered lights which can be used to cut down on your electric bill. Lighting can be attached to inexpensive motion detectors.

Third, put all emergency services on speed dial, and make sure numbers are prominently posted near all phones anyway. Don't assume that 911 will always do the job. Sometimes a call directly to a fire department may get faster response.

Fourth, make a plan for an emergency and make sure that everyone realizes their job and where to meet up if people get separated.

Fifth, buy an air horn and don't be afraid to use it. You can apologize to the neighbors later.

Sixth, there are places where you can buy signs for your yard and decals for your windows. Nobody has to know you never got around to buying the system, do they?

Seventh, get your hands on some fake security cameras. I don't exactly place a lot of personal faith in this one, but there are some reasonably realistic looking fake security cameras around, and just "not knowing" may be enough to deter an inexperienced burglar looking for an easy score. The cameras I have seen move, and have a pulsing red light which makes it look official.

Donovan Baldwin is a Dallas area writer. Being on this stage involves one serious question that usually is rather complicated to be answered - which one should you choose - wired or wireless home security system?

Keep reading and you will find out who wins in the competition - wired vs wireless home security system.

To begin with it is essential to underline that both systems have their advantages and disadvantages, so you should be ready for that you will not be able to find a perfect one no matter how hard you try.

(a) Wired Home Security Systems.

It is relatively easy to install this system. As a matter of fact, you can even do it on your own if you have some basic knowledge of electronic wiring. But of course, it is better to hire professionals to do this job.

As you understand, all components of this system, such as cameras, control panel, keyboard and so on, are connected via wires. That is the reason why it is better to install this system during some home improvement projects as this will help you to make cables less visible.

One of the greatest pluses of wired systems is that they are less prone to false alarms. Besides, it should be added that they involve minimum monitoring and maintenance.

(b) Wireless Home Security Systems.

The main dissimilarity and advantages of this system is its wireless work. It functions on radio waves. At the same time, this feature could be thought of as a minus because sometimes the device may react to some additional radio frequencies and consequently this may lead to false alarms.

To go into more details it should be mentioned that the battery must be checked on a regular basis in order to be certain that everything works as it should be.

As concerning the installation, there is a need to admit that it is really easy because cables are not incorporated.

What's more, you will be able to turn on or turn of the system via a small remote control.

So, it is up to you to decide who is a winner in a "battle" wired vs wireless home security. You should just evaluate the pros and cons of each and choose the one that is more suitable for your individual requirements.

If you need help with home alarm installation or with finding more info about home security - please visit this web site for more details and assistance.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Nickolay_Bokhonok

Good Home Security Recommendations

Good Home Security Recommendations

Home Security Advice

When the topic of home security springs to mind, most people seem to think of burglar alarms and little to nothing else. Alarms can be a great way to protect your home, although they are only a small part of what makes up an effective home security system.

Burglar alarms are a key to protecting your home – although there are other things you'll need as well.

Believe it or not, the windows are actually the key to home security. Homes that have poor constructed windows tend to get broken into a lot more than homes with secure and sturdy windows. When you are dealing with your windows, you should make sure that you have tough glass and locks that fit to the windows.

When you are away from home, you should always make sure that your windows are locked. Even though some windows may be hard to reach, you should always lock them. Burglars make a living out of stealing – and they will normally find a way in if they see the opening.

Home security is moving beyond strong locks and a guard dog and requires more vigilant standards. With burglars coming out into the day time and carefully planning their not-so-random attacks, safeguarding your home with a complex home security system requires you to put as much thought into it as the burglars do.

Along with the windows, doors are also known to be a weakness of security around the home. Doors should always be strong and sturdy, complete with tough locks that aren't easy to force open. If you have a spare key, you should be careful where you leave it. Losing your keys can also make you a target, especially if you have anything on your key ring that reveals your home address.

Home Security Shutters look great and add value to your home while adding greatly to the integrity of your home security defence system. They come in a range of colors and are usually custom made to fit the exact specifications of your windows.

The key feature of home security shutters, which make them an attractive security option, is their ability to secure all glass window areas in your house.

To better protect their homes, most people choose to invest in a home surveillance system. These systems are great for monitoring the home, as they can record video and keep it stored for you to view later. If you travel a lot, a home surveillance system can be an ideal way to keep a check on your home while you're away.

Home security systems and security cameras are not the only way to guarantee home security, but a good way to protect your home is with security cameras, if your budget can handle it.

Guard dogs are also common with home security as well. A guard dog can protect your home from burglars, thieves, and other types of trouble. Guard dogs can be very handy to have around, as most dogs are more than capable of scaring away trouble with their bark. The only downside to guard dogs is the fact that you'll need to train them and ensure that they always have food and water.

Last, but certainly not least are burglar alarms. Burglar alarms can be effective to an extent, although they are primarily good for scaring thieves away. If you put an alarm in a visible location from the outside of the home, most burglars won't even attempt to enter your home.

Even though burglar alarms are great for scaring off thieves – you'll still need to have other areas of your home safe and secure as well to get the most of your home security.

By: Rick Roberts

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

5 Ideas For Creating the Ideal Home Security System

5 Ideas For Creating the Ideal Home Security System

There is no single authorized system to follow when you want to set up a quality security plan for your home. Because of this fact, some people can get confused during the process. In general, there is no need to worry excessively. Here are 5 ideas to pick up when you want the ideal home security plan.

1. Get your research done in more places than your computer. There is a lot to learn about home security from reading materials online, but you're going to get just as much from talking to other people and seeing the devices in person. Your friends, relatives and neighbors can offer you the most advice you are going to get for free, so don't ignore what they have to say, even if you have some second thoughts later. Take notes and use this information later when you're making your final decision.

2. Don't go too heavy on the technology. Technology will play a vital role in the success of your home security system, but you shouldn't overdo it. Make sure everyone in the house can operate the equipment, so there aren't any questions when a real situation arises. At the same time, make sure your house has enough physical protection, as in the strength of your front and back door and in the ability of your windows to resist breaks.

3. Take the breaks where you can get them. If a company offers you a free home alarm system, it could be a break on one of the most expensive items you need, or it could just be a way to rope you into poor monitoring service. Take it case-by-case, evaluating each deal to figure out what the overall value of a deal will amount to. In some cases, you'll find yourself with a free alarm which you would have paid a great deal for had you bought it on its own, plus the best monitoring plan anyway. It is a no-brainer in this case.

4. Get some help from your pets. Pets become treasured members of the family over time and they can help you in security measures as well. If you have been thinking about getting one for your home, why not start now? Your children will love the companionship and you can teach them a lot just by having them taking care of the pets. This move is one of the most popular home security measures, as dogs will guard a home as if their life depended on it.

5. Take care of doable operations on your own. You might not realize it, but what you could get done with a screwdriver and a hammer & nails could turn a standard security system into the one that will impress even the security experts. It might just be adding longer screws to window latches or it could be posting a few signs in the window which warn prowlers of your alarm system and monitoring service.

Check out the options from adt online and get your ideal home security system in place today. See what types of free alarm systems could be yours with a monitoring package.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Michelle_Artofsky

<georss:box>35.0735181 -118.5644341 43.5684421 -103.6230281</georss:box>

Alarm System: Fast Alarm Response

Alarm System: Fast Alarm Response

Whenever we think of safety, security should hit our head like never before. Advancement of technology has modified security systems and as a result, there is an expansion of market. Often we have a wrong perception regarding brands. We think that good brands are capable of delivering prompt services while others are not. Do you think it is true? In most cases they are, but sometimes it is not. Again we may have an idea that expensive brands are better in quality. This is the consumer’s perception towards the security brands.

According to a research report by tech market research firm Parks Associates, the home security market is US is nearing maturation, leaving its 18,000 security dealers scrambling for new business opportunities. Parks projects that the security industry will experience an incremental growth throughout the end of the decade with monitored and unmonitored systems, flattening out to between 28 to 30 percent household penetration in this year. From these data, it can be make out that there is a growing demand in security system.

If you are running a small business or shops you should think about its security. Sometimes the employees or unsophisticated customers can steal your goods. According to the recent research report, the number of shoplifters and employee thieves apprehended by retailers amounted in 2009 to 5.8 million - an increase of 500,000 compared to the previous year. From those apprehensions, 85.6% were shoplifters and 14.4% employees. The average amount stolen or admitted by shoplifters was $225.90 ($436.24 in North America). The average employee theft was $1,889.02 in North America compared to $2,535.52 in Europe.

Again there are a lot of fire accidents that take place in Northern US. It does not take time to turn your home into ashes. To curb such crises, prevent them by using fire security at your business. Factory fires are oft-heard incidents. We are all aware of the proverb, ‘Prevention is better than cure’. Prevention should be your primary concern.

There are many security systems which have multiple operations. They are generally targeted to those who do not wish to buy separate devices to prevent them from each crisis. Of course, who would like to buy security system for curbing individual accidents? Generally, alarm systems are installed to take control of everything that is happening around either at your home or business. An example of this would be ADT alarm system. ADT alarm systems are such security devices which help protect from all untoward incidents.

There is excellent news for the factory or shop owners or those into business. They can prevent office fires by the use of ADT fire security. ADT fire security has launched Consys Express, an easy-to-use fire alarm programming, solely for small and medium-sized business. Being user-friendly, this system has easy programming, including switching on evacuation alarm sounders, closing fire doors, or automatically alerting the fire service through ADT fire and security’s alarm receiving centers in the event of fire. It has a very prompt service to all its customers using this product.

By: Richard Lindholm

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

<georss:box>27.527825614673013 -178.05468499660492 80.37055061467302 -58.52343499660492</georss:box>

Cost Effective ADT Home Security Systems

Cost Effective ADT Home Security Systems

      By Jhon Brown

ADT home security services understands the clients need and provides the subscriber with different kind of home alarm system which could be beneficial in daily life. One can also use ADT monitoring cameras which can record the slightest action that could be performed a t your absence. We will take a ride through the various appliances of ADT security services

ADT Security Yard Symbols: Every home alarm system comes with a yard sign and window decals which can be easily traced knowing that it is ADT home services certified system.

Installation by a Professional: A professional who is certified by ADT helps you to install the home security systems and takes you through different trouble shooting methods, so that in future you could be able to install the security appliances by your own self.

Battery Backup: Battery back up helps the security appliances to perform even during the power failure. The ADT home security systems have been developed without chords or wires which gives an added advantage in terms of installation. These wireless security systems use batteries as backup so that during a power failure it could be activated without much difficulty.

High Decibel Alarm Siren: The ADT home alarm systems such as the burglar alarm system are made with higher frequencies which scares an intruder when it is tampered. The decibels of such systems are much louder that they can be heard from one house to another.

Points of Protection: The home alarm systems must be easily expandable which means they could be mounted anywhere with ease. They have high audible sound which alerts the owner about a break-in, they can be placed anywhere at the door windows or even at your ceilings.

Infrared Motion Detector: These detectors are programmed which allows the pet to roam around freely without triggering the alarm. The motion detector sensors picks up the signals of a person even during night and alerts the owner by blowing a tremendous sound.

Keychain Remote Access: The ADT security systems can now be operated by using a simple mechanical device which could be in form of a keychain. You can now arm or disarm your home alarm systems from any corner of your home or from a range of 50 feet by using the keychain. This could be obtained with an affordable price.

Digital Keypad: At just a touch on the digital keypad you can now communicate with the cops or with the fire department during emergency.

Wireless: ADT security systems come wirelessly which means they can be installed anywhere. The wireless security systems are helped by the batteries which mean if there is an electricity break down they will still be able to function. But in case of wireless security systems, the owner must ensure that the batteries are charged at regular intervals. More over the wireless security systems such as ADT monitoring cameras can be placed anywhere by using two to three screws. So, the owner need not has to face any kind of problem during an installation.

The above features give us a brief idea of the ADT security systems and explains us that why should they be preferred for our daily use. They are reliable and one can get rid of those lengthy manuals which kill our time during installation. For this reason all the security systems are wireless which can be operated on batteries.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Jhon_Brown

<georss:box>33.6242588 -118.42269429999999 33.909665800000006 -117.9557753</georss:box>

Home Security Secrets to Prevent a Burglary

Home Security Secrets to Prevent a Burglary
By Andy J Jones

Ask yourself this question. Do you want to be the next victim of crime? So many homeowners do not act and address their home security needs. They wait until they have been burgled as a prompt to look at their home security. Prevention is always better than cure so why not take action today before it's too late. Follow these great tips to transform your home security so you are not the next victim of home burglary.

Is doesn't have to cost a fortune to improve your home security. A few simple things can be done around the house that will make significant improvements. For example, its obvious, but how many people forget to securely lock their doors behind them when they go out the house? You'd be surprised - it happens a lot! Turn on a light or two if you plan to go out then return later in the evening when its dark. Better still, timer switches for your lights can be purchased inexpensively and these give a more realistic impression that someone is at home.

Outside your home, it is advisable to fit outdoor security lighting to the exterior of your property and the burglar does not want to be seen whilst breaking into your home.

Again, these devices can be bought inexpensively and installed fairly quickly. Be sure to get an outdoor security light that has a PIR motion detector sensor to trigger the light if movement has been detected.

Look around your yard. When is the last time you trimmed your bushes, hedges, trees and shrubs? These can actually provide an aid to the burglar as they hide behind them and use them to their advantage. Make sure you regularly trim all overgrown foliage in your yard. Most people have a shed or garage in their yard.

Is it secure? Tools are usually kept in these and often a set of ladders. These are all very useful implements for the burglar to use to break into your property. Burglars actually travel quite light - so evidence cannot be found if they get stopped and questioned either before or after a burglary - so they break into your shed to either steal tools, or use them to gain entry to your property. So, check all locks on shed and garages and secure them if required.

By following a few simple tips, your home security will be improved so you can sleep easy at night. Make the burglar move on and don't be the next victim of burglary.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Andy_J_Jones

Choose The Best Home Security System

Choose The Best Home Security System

With the rate of crime in some areas rising, you want to do everything that you can to protect your family. One of the very best ways that you can get all the protection that your home needs is with a good security system. When you begin your search for a system, you might become overwhelmed because there are a vast number of choices on the market. If you keep a few things in mind on your search, you will see that it is easy to find the system that will work the best for your house.

For many people, the first thing that they think of when considering a home security system is the price. You might be surprised to find that many systems are quite affordable for just about every budget. When you consider how much safer you will feel while you are home and away, you will see that the price of a system is well worth it.

Rather than foregoing a quality system, you might be able to find other ways to save a little in your budget each month, such as cutting out the morning coffee at the expensive drive thru.

As you search, look for a company that has a good reputation. You should strive to find a company that has been in business for a number of years and that has a name you can trust. Those companies that have been successful in business know what it takes to make homes truly secure. You will also want to make sure that the company stays abreast of all of the latest technologies and innovations in home security.

Find alarms that will help to stop the burglary as it is occurring, such as those that use loud alarms and sirens. You will also want a company that has a monitoring system and is alerted whenever anything happens at your house. A company that has 24-hr monitoring, as well as an option for two-way communication with the monitoring center, is a good choice.

Find a company that also offers other forms of protection, not just protection from burglars. Choose a home security system that allows for protection against fire, flood, carbon monoxide, and more. The more protection you have, the safer you and your family will be. You will often find that the cost of your home insurance goes down when you have more protection.

Don't try to get a system and install it yourself. You might think you are saving money, but there is a good chance that you will not be able to install it correctly. They are complicated devices. Have a professional from the company come, install the equipment, and explain how to use it to you and your family.

It might seem daunting to try to choose a home security company, but when you look for quality, monitoring, professional installation, and experience, you will see that it becomes easier to find a company with which you are comfortable.

By: Carly Kosiele

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

<georss:box>38.46850529922512 -111.1212159296875 39.535715299225124 -109.2535399296875</georss:box>

Types Of Burglar Alarm System – What You Should Know

Types Of Burglar Alarm System – What You Should Know

They are many alarm systems on the market today and the choice is vast. Deciding which system is most suitable for your requirements is difficult so it is helpful to understand the simple differences between the main types of alarm system currently available. There are three main types of burglar alarm system and these are hardwired, wireless and self-contained.

Hardwired alarm systems are often referred to as the more traditional type of security system. These systems usually consist of a main control panel, bell box or siren and a number of sensor devices which detect an intrusion. Essentially all components are wired together using multi-core cable. The cabling provides power to the device and detection of the device being triggered into an alarm condition as well as the identifying of tampering of the sensor device.

One advantage of this system is that it is considered more permanent than a wireless system and sometimes more reliable and not so susceptible to false alarms. One disadvantage is that it is recommended having the system installed by a professional alarm installer and this will come at an additional cost – both for labor and materials. If you decide to add more sensors to you system at a later date then you will need to call the installer back in again. There will be a lot of disruption when installing a hard wired system such as lifting floorboards/skirting and channelling walls etc…

On the other hand a wireless alarm system is very straightforward to install. In fact most DIY’ers can undertake the installation thus saving a considerable amount of cash. Virtually no additional materials are involved so if you are not looking to spend a fortune on a home security system then a wireless system is for you. These days they are so much more reliable than they once were and false alerts are a thing of the past. They are fantastic for rented accommodation too as they can be easily removed when you leave your rented property. Adding an additional sensor or two at a later time is a breeze and there is no need to employ a tradesman to do this.

Be sure to purchase a system that allows suitable future expandability. You can start out with just a couple of sensors and grow your system as finances dictate. The only slight disadvantage is that you will have a change all of the batteries in the wireless sensors on a regular basis but it’s a small price to pay for the flexibility and versatility of a wireless alarm system.

A self-contained alarm system is a single unit often shaped like an everyday object such as a VCR or PIR motion detector. These devices are limited in features and functionality but offer great flexibility if portability is a requirement such as a short term stay in a property or even your garden shed, where there is no power available. Most self-contained alarm systems are powered by batteries so are great for outdoor use or vehicles such as motor homes or caravans.

By: andyj00

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

<georss:box>8.586269164801706 -158.01562249660492 73.6210051648017 -38.48437249660492</georss:box>

Why You Should Install A Home Security System Yourself

Why You Should Install A Home Security System Yourself

You are taking a big risk if you do not have a home security system installed. Your family, your home and all your possessions could be in jeopardy by not having a security strategy to protect and defend against an intruder attack. So many people continue to bury their heads in the sand and simply don’t think it will happen to them. At some point throughout your life your will experience a burglary or will know someone close to you who has been burgled so don’t be naïve and trust to chance that it won’t happen to you.

When asked, most people admit they really do want a home security system but that it is not a high priority on their list of home improvements – mainly due to the expense of purchasing and installing such a system. Fortunately, it is as not as expensive as you first think. Alarm systems are not only far cheaper than they once were but are more sophisticated too. The good news is that the cost of a home security installation can be reduced substantially if you install it yourself. Believe it or not, most average DIY’ers can easily install a home security system so there is no need to invest in a professional alarm installation company to carry out the work. And there is an ideal security system that can be easily self installed and that is the wireless home security system.

The most important step when self installing your wireless alarm system is planning. It’s best to sketch out a plan layout of your property to help decide where the various components of the system will go. Observe the entry/exit points into your property and decide on one common way in and out. You will want to install the main control panel somewhere close to this location in your property. Although many wireless alarm systems come complete with a wireless keyfob to arm/disarm the system, you will still need easily access to the control panel’s keypad in case the keyfob does not work (e.g. the batteries have gone flat).

Make sure the siren/bell box is installed well out of reach and choose whether you want it visible (which acts as a great natural deterrent) or hidden from view. Some people opt for a silent alarm that simply contacts an alarm monitoring center when triggered.

There are a variety of wireless alarm sensors available so plan for the most beneficial location for these devices. For door and window sensors - allow for as many external doors and windows that your property has. Consider upstairs windows as well as downstairs as burglars climb in through upper level windows using ladders that are left lying around outside. For detecting movement inside your property install PIR movement detectors. These devices detect a change any heat that passes across the prism. Decide which interior rooms would most benefit from these devices. Ideally all interior rooms should have a PIR sensor but just install the rooms with the most valuables items in the first instance to help keep the cost down. The beauty of a wireless alarm system is that extra devices can be added at a later date – without the need to get professional installers back in.

For your safety it is recommended that smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors be installed and added to your wireless system as these devices could save your life. Thousands of people die every year in house fires and in most cases could be prevented if they simply had a smoke detector installed. Carbon monoxide detectors sense the poisonous gas which is odourless, colorless and tasteless and can be emitted from faulty gas appliances.

By: andyj00

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

<georss:box>8.955338092317902 -167.50780999660492 73.7806870923179 -47.97655999660492</georss:box>

Best Home Security Help and Advice

Best Home Security Help and Advice
by Andy J Jones

Is home security important? Well, if you have already been burgled then you know the answer to that. So many people think that home security is something they must do, but don't really get around to doing anything about it. By not taking action and addressing your home security weaknesses you are running a big risk. TV's, hi-fi's and games machines can easily be replaced but can you really afford to lose all of your personal possessions, precious heirlooms and sentimental items of value and importance? The following are the many ways that you can improve your home security and give peace of mind that your home is properly protected.

Burglar Alarm Systems
This should be the first home improvement you must make if you want to increase your home security. Alarm systems generally consist of a control panel, siren and a variety of sensors to trigger a burglar intrusion. There is a choice of hard wired or wireless type systems. Wireless systems are a very popular choice as they are cheap and easy to install although sensors require a regular battery change. Technology has improved somewhat and they are less prone to false alerts nowadays. Hard wired systems are generally more permanent and more stable and used in professional installations. They have higher install costs and there will be a lot of disruption during installation.

Monitored Home Security
Monitored home security is when your home burglar alarm system is connected to a alarm monitoring company and their job is to watch over your home 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If your alarm is triggered they will send out help to assist with your emergency, be it police, fire or ambulance. They will charge a small monthly fee but you may find that by having monitored home security your insurance premium may drop - thus offsetting the monitoring costs.

Security Cameras
Closed Circuit Television or CCTV is a popular method to visually and sometimes audibly, monitor and record activity directly outside your property. There are simple, inexpensive systems that simply send a signal to your TV or a monitor for you to view. Or there are more sophisticated systems that can record images and video digitally from many security cameras that may be monitoring your property. The digital images can sometimes be viewed remotely, all around the world via the internet. There are many choices of camera. Again, security cameras can be both hard wired and wireless, color or black and white and some even operate in the dark via infrared.

External Security Lighting
External security lighting is one of the cheapest - yet effective - home security improvements you can make. The burglar does not want to be seen when breaking into a property so external lighting will be sure to put him off. It is recommended to buy the security lighting with an attached PIR motion sensor this will switch on immediately when movement is detected.

Deadbolts Locks For Securing Doors
Deadbolt locks provide an additional security obstacle for your external doors and will make it nigh on impossible for the burglar to get into your property via the protected door. These days biometrics are becoming popular offering keyless locks with gadgets such as fingerprint readers to allow the door to be opened.

Driveway Monitors
A driveway monitor will detect the entry of someone onto your land giving you an early warning of someone's presence. It could be an expected visitor, friend or neighbour, but it could equally be an unwanted intruder.

Security Window Bars
Security window bars provide both a visual and physical deterrent to a burglar making them think twice about breaking into a property. A burglar does not want to draw attention to himself when breaking into a property and also wants to be very quick to enter the property. By installing window bars you will slow him down and he will create noise when trying to remove the window bars. This should be enough for him to move on, even before he has attempted a break-in.

These are just a few of the many ways to prevent to burglar entering your property and making off with your property and valuables.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Andy_J_Jones

<georss:box>28.67124603516671 -136.57030999660492 56.15836103516671 -76.80468499660492</georss:box>

Laser Home Security - Inside, Outside, All Around Your Home

Laser Home Security - Inside, Outside, All Around Your Home
By David Faulkner

Laser home security alarms, which create beams of laser light, can be installed either around your homes exterior perimeter or in your homes’ interior rooms. If installed on your home’s exterior, the alarms can be positioned at set intervals high enough above ground level to give your home’s perimeter complete protecting from intruders by sounding an alarm when the beam of light is penetrated.

Exterior Laser Home Security

Laser home security perimeter alarms are among the most costly home security equipment available, but are popular because they can be concealed beneath the homes shrubbery and are easy to arm and disarm. They will neither harm the lawn or other landscaping around a home, nor damage any lawn ornaments or furniture.

Laser home security perimeter alarms are also ideal for use around the perimeters of swimming pools, where they can be set to project light beams between one and two feet above ground level, and sound an alarm whenever a small child approaches the pool.

Like other security alarms, laser home security systems can be installed so that they alert local police as soon as their light beams are disturbed and the alarm sounds. Having this feature is becoming essential; the increasing numbers of car alarms which sound with regularity have desensitized people to the sound of an alarm. So you can’t depend on your neighbors to notify the police if your laser home security alarm should be triggered in your absence.

Interior Laser Home Security

You can purchase an interior laser home security device capable of covering a room of up to eleven hundred square feet with its sensors, and signaling its master control unit when its light beam is broken. The control unity will then sound an alarm; if you pay a modest monthly fee for a monitoring service, they will contact the police for you. One of these systems has a device to prevent your pets from unnecessarily tripping the alarm.

Most interior laser home security systems are compact and very simple to install; they will ply into your regular telephone jacks and power outlets, and can be connected to the master alarm control and to each other with a remote. The monitoring company will first contact the homeowner in the event of a laser home security alarm sounding, and then contact law enforcement if necessary.

Most laser home security systems come with a one-year warranty on parts and labor, which will be upgraded to a lifetime warranty for those who use the monitoring systems. And they have backup batteries which keep them functional even during power failures.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=David_Faulkner

<georss:box>6.595538752286856 -164.34374749660492 72.66548275228686 -44.81249749660492</georss:box>

Biometric Door Locks: Secure, Reliable, Comfy

Biometric Door Locks: Secure, Reliable, Comfy

Gone are the days of carrying bunch of keys for opening doors. Gone are the days of keeping separate keys for separate locks. Now you would be able to unlock all the doors and cases without the help of any key. The idea is not new and has been in use for quite some time but slowly and steadily it is becoming popular and coming in people's eye. Right! We are talking about biometric door locks.

Biometric locks provide an entirely new level of interface with extreme ease & security. The most noticeable benefit is getting rid of carrying cumbersome keys. It also mitigates a range of problems associated with PIN, standard key, RFID, magnetic stripe cards, etc., while providing new levels of ease. Biometric door locks identify the authorized people on the basis of their biometric properties, already fed earlier into the system. The unique biometric characteristics of individuals allow only correct users to enter the system.

For quite some time the use of biometric access systems, particularly biometric door locks have been plagued by two flaws. First one has been the high cost of these devices in order to achieve accurate performance that put them out of the general consumer range. The second problem has been the visual design characteristics. But in recent years biometric device manufacturers have been able to sort out both these flaws. You can now find a range of biometric access devices in the market at an affordable rate.

Types of Biometric Technology
A number of identification technologies have been used by the biometric door locks manufacturers, such as fingerprint recognition technology, face recognition technology, voice recognition technology, iris recognition technology, etc. Each of these technologies work on some type of unique and individual biometric properties that we inherit. In this way one can't copy or duplicate one's unique identification like the password and access card, ultimately enhancing the security.

Unlocking Doors with Eyes
Now open doors with your eyes! You might have seen it many times in sci-fi movies. But the fiction has been changed to reality. Researchers from Queensland University of Technology's faculty of Built Environment and Engineering, has achieved sorting out one of the final obstacles to the everyday application of iris scanning technology. Already being used, this technology will become the part of our daily life in coming decade.

Like fingerprint every individual iris is unique and even the iris pattern of the left and right eye of the same person differs from each other. The iris pattern is fixed throughout a person's lifetime. Iris recognition confirms the identity of a person based on who the person is instead of what the person possesses, such as an ID card or password.

By: pvyas

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

Alarm Systems For Apartments

Alarm Systems For Apartments
Apartment/dorm occupants are an easy target for burglars. As people are in and out of the apartment block all day long it is more difficult to keep non-residents out. You would know if a stranger was in your house but you may not know who is walking through the apartment block. So, the appropriate security measures need to be taken to ensure your apartment is safe.

There are several preventative measures that can be taken in order to be certain that your apartment is safe and secure. If you want to keep your expensive possessions safe such as computers, TV’s and Hi-fi’s then you need to take action. Most people only install an apartment alarm system after they have been burgled. Why wait until you have been broken into? Do it now before it’s too late.

You should be deterring the intruder before they even attempt to break into your apartment. Don’t give the impression you are not at home or have no security installed in your apartment. A really determined burglar will probably find their way in but most burglars are opportunists – which makes its easier for the homeowner to deter. You need to make breaking into your apartment as difficult as possible.

Use some common sense and make sure you take the normal security precautions before you leave your apartment such as closing all windows and doors before your leave the property. Some people leave notes for delivery people stating they will be back at a certain time – don’t do this – you are informing a burglar of how long they have to break into your apartment and clear it out. But of course the most sensible and wise thing to do is install an apartment burglar alarm system. An alarm system is vital in distracting intruders from breaking into your property.

There are two main types of alarm system, hardwired and wireless and both have their pros and cons. Wireless alarm systems are very popular as their reliability has improved over the last few years and their cost has reduced considerably. They are an ideal choice for the DIY’er which will save on installation costs. You can easily add more alarm sensor devices to a wireless alarm system such as extra PIR movement sensors or smoke sensors as required. Of course if you are renting your apartment then the wireless system can be very easily uninstalled and taken away to your new home.

Hardwired alarm systems are more permanent, more robust and will probably last longer. Also there is no need to change batteries like a wireless system. However, unless you are very competent with mains power wiring, the installation is best left to the professionals. Bear in mind that flooring and skirting will have to come up and there will be disruption for a few days. As they are more permanent, you cannot easily take them with you like a wireless system - it would be an expensive uninstall bill to have it took out and reinstalled into your new home. A hardwired alarm system will no doubt be a better, more professional solution and will be more reliable – but it comes at a price – as always, you get what you pay for.

By: andyj00

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

Burglary Prevention – Home Security Secrets

Burglary Prevention – Home Security Secrets

Fortunately, most burglaries are committed by amateurs or opportunists. It is much easier to be one step ahead of these types of burglars by following some straightforward advice. Don’t think it will happen to you? Don’t you believe it. There has never been a better time to be more home security aware. Act now and don’t wait the until unfortunate happens.

If you were the burglar, how would you break into your own home? Get into the mind of the burglar and take action to improve any weaknesses in the security of your home.

Always lock all of the doors and windows when you leave you house. This may sound obvious, but many people don’t do this so the burglar can simply just walk in through your unlocked door or window.

Give the appearance that your house is occupied and use timers on lights, leave radios on, especially in the evening when its dark.

If you have a security system that keeps going off, get it fixed. Your neighbors will simply ignore it.

If you need to let anyone into your house such as tradesmen or a house cleaner then make sure you vet them. Check their references and make sure the person is honest and trustworthy.

If you have a security system, make sure all wiring is concealed and cannot be tampered with. A burglar will look for these weaknesses where they can easily disable your security system.

When you move into a new house be sure that you change all of the locks as you don’t know who still has a key to your property.

In case we lock ourselves out, we all like to keep a spare key to hand, either under the doormat or in a mailbox. This is not a good idea as thieves look in these places too.

Cut down all of your overgrown trees and shrubbery otherwise it provides a good shelter for a burglar when breaking into your property.

Do not list your full name in the telephone book or mailbox. Only use your initial and your last name.

When someone knocks on your door such as a salesman, ask for their ID. If in doubt then check with the persons company before letting them in.

We like to leave notes on our front doors for friends or for people that we expect to be visiting. Beware as this provides useful information for burglars.
Burglars are put off if they think they will be seen breaking into a property so fit exterior security lighting with a motion sensor.

Make the neighbors aware if you will be on holiday for long periods of time so they can watch over your property.

Discuss with your neighbors if you see any strange people or suspicious cars lurking around.

A dog is a great deterrent to the burglar. They do not like attention drawn to their attempts to break in.

If you haven’t got them fit deadbolts to your doors. If you door is secured by a simple spring latch then its not secure and is an easy target for burglars.
If you ever lose your keys then change all of the locks in your property immediately.

Mark up your tools and garden equipment with paint. This will deter burglars from stealing them as they can be easily identified.

If a person comes knocking on your door to use your phone then don’t let then in and make the call for them yourself.

By: andyj00

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

<georss:box>7.846073876112641 -170.32030999660492 73.29728987611264 -50.78905999660492</georss:box>

Going On Vacation? Secure Your Home!

Going On Vacation? Secure Your Home!

Secure your home while you’re away and you will be thankful you did! There are a number of home security systems available today. Home security and fire safety are two things you should always discuss when moving into a new home or opening a new business. Fire safety is a number one issue that is rarely discussed in the home or office, so it is important that you and family or employees discuss how to exit the home/office in the event of an emergency.

Getting a security alarm system is very beneficial to keeping your family/office protected from thefts. Security alarm systems are very advanced and can be connected to your local police and fire stations. If the alarm is tripped, the police/fire station will be contacted and will call your home to make sure everything is ok. If you do not respond, they will send over officers/firemen to investigate the situation. This type of alarm system is wonderful and can make your family feel extremely safe. It is important to note that security alarms that function in this manner usually cost an extra fee to have the police or fire station to respond. But isn’t it worth it to have your family or business safe from theft or fire?

If you have a large home or business, investing in a security surveillance system is ideal. Security surveillance systems can be wired the same way as a regular alarm, yet also include video panels so that you can keep watch over every inch of your home or business. The ability to watch over your entire home or business is a great tool and an even better investment. But only purchase something of this magnitude if you have an extremely large home or business where there can be many parts that are unseen on a daily basis.

Once you secure your home or business with the best security alarm available, why not take a trip to the south? Heading to a great vacation spot like Florida will be just what the doctor ordered. Many people go to Disney World, but why not try Jacksonville or Tallahassee? These are great cities and have wonderful tourist attractions. Jacksonville is a vibrant city and is home to a US naval base. Tallahassee is home to the great Florida State University. If those places don’t spark your interest, then visit other great cities in Florida!

By: Salem

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://home-security-information.blogspot.com/2009/01/going-on-vacation-secure-your-home.html' title='Going On Vacation? It should be a happy time for all, a time of giving and receiving gifts both tangible and intangible.

Unfortunately, unless you have a hired a Houston security systems company to provide assurance for your safety, you may find that your happy season can become frustrating—and even frightening. Intruders see the holidays as a great opportunity to steal cash, credit cards, electronics and other valuables from unsuspecting homes and may ruin your otherwise joyous season.

A home alarm is the best way to protect your Houston home, but if you are not sure that you are ready for security alarm systems by a professional Houston company, you might also consider implementing the following safety measures on your own:

• Don’t make your tree too visible. Burglars generally look for an easy entry, fast grab and quick escape. Make it difficult for them to tell if your house is full of Christmas gifts by placing your tree in a less visible place.

• Don’t advertise your absence. Occupancy clues like outdoor lights burning all day long, piled up papers and flyers and other clues will let burglars know that you are away for the holidays. Instead, use a light timer when you are going away, and ask a trusted neighbor to keep your driveway clear of paper and other debris.

• Don’t hide a spare key near the front door. Experienced burglars know that many homeowners keep a hidden key near the front entrance, don’t prove them right. Instead of hiding a key above the door ledge, under a rock or in a flowerpot, give it to a trusted neighbor. It is also a good idea to give that same neighbor the code to your home alarm in case of an emergency when you are not in your Houston home.

• Lock doors and windows. The vast majority of burglars would rather enter through an unlocked door or window, so keep all entrances locked securely. Most Houston security systems companies pay close attention to these areas; but holiday lights can pose a singular problem if an extension cord is run through a window and prevents it from closing securely.

• Refrain from posting your name on the mailbox. If you post your name, a burglar could simply call directory assistance, get your phone number and call to make sure you are not home prior to the intrusion.

• Leave a vague message on your answering machine. Houston security alarm systems cannot do the little things like leave a smart outgoing message on your answering machine, which means you will have to do this yourself. Never say that you are away for the holidays or when you will return, because then a prospective burglar will know how much time he or she has to go through your home.

• Don’t pile up empty boxes from big-ticket gifts. Never advertise your new Christmas gifts by piling up empty boxes, since it only lets burglars know what they can hope to steal from you. It’s best to break them down and cut them up to better conceal the items.

• Fortify your home. Keep your home as safe as you can by installing solid core doors, heavy duty door locks, and longer screws in every lock strike plate and door hinge. Above everything else, opt for Houston home security systems, including a home alarm, if you want to take every available precaution against intruders.

For information about security systems for your Houston home, or to get advice about how you can take safety precautions yourself, contact Safeguard Home Security at 800-785-6488.

By: John McCreary

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

Why A Wireless Home Alarm?

Why A Wireless Home Alarm?

Of all the new technologies that have appeared in recent years in the home security arena, the wireless home alarm system may be one of the most practical and useful. Without the option for a wireless home alarm system many people would in fact, find home alarm systems unfordable.

Little Walkie-Talkies

This is because a wireless home alarm system needs no wires to operate. All the little sensors that are placed in and around a home or business on windows and doors are in fact, like little walkie-talkies. If they are triggered, they signal the main alarm system by radio.

No Wires Required

So why is this such a big deal? Its a big deal, because for someone to wire an existing home up with an alarm system would be very expensive and would require that a lot of damage be done to the home in the process.

Many New Feature Options

This new affordability that wireless alarm system brings to a home or business means that their system can contain many more feature options as well. In response, the feature options for a wireless home alarm system just keep on coming.

Wireless Security Cameras

Digital camera systems are just one of the feature options that people are now choosing to add onto their wireless alarm systems. This is because these too are now wireless and function on the same principles.

Your Security System is Calling

In fact, these types of digital camera systems have become so advanced in their feature options that your alarm system can now call you on your cell phone and tell you if one of the cameras on it has detected anyone moving in its range of surveillance.

Nothing Can Replace a Man or Woman Responding

Or your system can simply email you if you don't want to be bothered by a phone call from it. Of course, todays security systems, both hard wired and wireless come with a wide range of manned security response options as well.
By: Terry Nastella

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

Advice On Choosing The Best Security Camera - Resolution

Advice On Choosing The Best Security Camera - Resolution

With so many choices of surveillance cameras in the market, it is easy for a consumer to get overwhelmed in choosing the best security camera for their system needs.

No matter what type of surveillance application you are installing, there are some basic things that all consumers should consider in order to make a good choice.

This will be the first of a series of articles to help guide a non-technical person that is researching the purchase of a surveillance system. The main topic for this first article of the series is security camera resolution.

It is important to know what resolution means when shopping for a surveillance camera. CCTV cameras have a resolution range from 330 TVL (television lines) to 600 TVL.

For color resolution, CCTV cameras max out at 560 lines, however you can get black and white CCTV surveillance cameras in 600 TVL. IP security cameras are now available in much higher resolution, up to 5 megapixels. What does this mean?

In the United States, regular TV transmission (not high definition) displays 480 lines of resolution. So it is possible to purchase CCTV cameras that can record equal to or greater resolution than TV.

Obviously the higher the resolution of the camera that you choose, the more detail you will see in your surveillance video. High definition television (HDTV) displays either 1080 or 720 lines of resolution depending on the channel and the type of HDTV that you have.

In order to get higher resolution from surveillance cameras, the only choice is IP based megapixel cameras, which connect over an IP network instead of a closed circuit. Generally, IP mega-pixel cameras are much more expensive than CCTV cameras.

For high end applications that demand ultra-high resolution, megapixel cameras can capture surveillance video at more than twice the resolution of high definition television.

Some people that are shopping for a security camera are unrealistic (because of their lack of experience) about what a surveillance camera can capture (especially CCTV cameras). I will go into more detail about lens types and sizes in the next article in this series.

I must touch on it briefly now as it is so closely related to resolution. For this example, we will use a 3.6mm lens which gives you about a 90 degree field of view outward from the lens. Some people think that if you take a 480 lines of resolution camera with a 3.6mm lens that you will be able to get a clear picture both of an object that is 20 feet away and an object that is 80 feet away.

This is not true. While the 3.6mm lens will easily pick up the object in detail at 20 feet away, it cannot pick it up at 80 feet away also with the same 3.6mm lens. In order to pick up the object at the further distance, you have to either use a larger lens that would make the image appear more close up or use a high end megapixel camera that would allow the operator to zoom in digitally without distorting the picture.

Digital zoom is possible with high end megapixel cameras, but not with normal resolution CCTV cameras. Because of the huge price difference between CCTV and IP mega-pixel cameras, a lot of times it makes sense to add additional CCTV cameras instead of upgrading to megapixel cameras. This will lead us into the next article which will be about understanding and choosing the right camera lens.
By: Mike Haldas

Article Directory: http://www.articledashboard.com

Home Security - Equipment You May Want

Home Security - Equipment You May Want
By Jeffrey Parker

A thorough approach to protecting your home and family is to identify the types of protection equipment you will need and how this equipment can provide the most effective home security at the most affordable cost while maximizing your family's safety.A multi layer of security equipment is the best way to accomplish your protection goals.

The first line of safety must be wireless security camera for the home. With today's technology, wireless security cameras are not just affordable but also easy to install, giving you total control of both time and budget.

Depending upon your needs and your goals for defense, wireless security cameras are available in many different models: night vision, black and white, infra-red, network ip, and a large range of various other options.

Whatever you may need for your home security, these wireless security cameras must be your first line of defense for your home.

Visible wireless security cameras let the would-be burglars and intruders know they should head down the street to find easier marks and just leave your home alone.

Motion sensors should be your next line of defense. They are simple to install and inexpensive, just like wireless security cameras.

They sense movement that may or may not be seen by wireless security cameras, giving your home additional means of protection.

You can put these mobile motion sensors anywhere around your home, if you believe there is a good reason. This allows you to fill all the gaps in your home's protection. They add more covert protection for your home, while wireless cameras allow you to see what is happening more openly.

The third kind of highly desirable protective devices are alarm monitors. They are similar to the other two types in that they are neither expensive nor difficult to mount.

They protect you in an very obvious way by setting off an extremely loud noise to warn you in case of a potential or actual break-in, and they also strike fear in the hearts of criminals which serves to chase them away.

Modern alarm monitors can be found in several versions, so you can chose the one that is right for you.

In addition to the above protection equipment one needs for their home protection and security, please always make sure of the following:

You always should have appropriate lighting both in the front, back and sides of your home. Your home should always have solid and sturdy doors.

Always have your windows locked and secured. Take careful measures that your home is secure when vacationing and always stop you paper delivery and have some one pick up your mail or have the Post Office hold until you return.

With the technology available today, wireless security cameras are not only affordable but easy to install which gives you control of your budget and time.

Combine these with motion detectors and alarm monitors for a complete security system.

source : http://ezinearticles.com/?Home-Security---Equipment-You-May-Want&id=1694634

Importance Of Home Security

Importance Of Home Security
by Oshik Amiga

Security has always been an important issue since old days. And to be sure, all of those products have a role to play in a high quality home security plan. But actually there are some very simple things that anyone can do to raise the security level in and around their home with very little cost and effort. And here is our list of 5 things that can help make your home more secure right away:

1. If you happen to be one of those folks who likes to leave a key to the front door of your house hidden under your doormat, or over the door frame, or within easy reach of your front door, you are just inviting a home break-in and making it easy for the burglar. Experienced burglars know that lots of people hide the key to the front door in close proximity to the door to make it more convenient for them to get in when they forget their key for some reason. So they just check around the front door area and can often come up with easy entry into your home in a very short period of time by doing so. Its not a good idea to hide your key outside at all therefore, but if you must, at least hide it a good distance away from the front door where no one would think to look.

2. One of the other most common ways that burglars can gain easy access to your home is through an open or unlocked window. This just makes it way too easy for them. So if you happen to be one of those folks who loves to have your windows open, at least install safety locks that will only allow them to be open part of the way and not enough for someone to be able to climb through. And when you are away from the house, it's best to have the windows shut and locked at all times.

3. Just drive down almost any street and you will find houses that have trees and large shrubs up next to the house where someone could hide. That is a bad safety strategy, and it would be good for you to go outside and look at your home from the standpoint of an intruder. How easy is it to get close to your home without being seen? Can someone gain access to upper floors of the home by climbing a nearby tree? If you spot possible hiding places close to the house, do whatever is necessary to eliminate that danger. Prevention is your best protection in this area.

4. Many home intrusions take place at night simply because darkness helps conceal suspicious behavior. So bright lights are an intruder's worst enemy. In view of that, some well-placed motion detection lights can do wonders for your home security. They are cheap and simple to install, and can be very effective in preventing break-ins.

5. If you have nice possessions, like an expensive car, keep it in the garage. Try to do as little as possible to attract attention to any pricey posserssions that you may have. Burglars would rather invest their time and energy in homes that promise a good payday as opposed to those where they can't really tell much about what is inside. So keep windows covered so that it is hard to see inside, and use shades at night to keep others from looking inside your home to see what valuables are there.

All of these ideas are very simple and easy to implement, but together they can raise your home security level right away

How Does A Motion Detector Work

How Does A Motion Detector Work
By: Robert Marcus

An alarm system is a great way to provide extra protection for your home. There are plenty of options available for you to ensure your home’s safety. So don’t take chances. Protect your family with a home security system that will safeguard your most precious valuables, and the people you love.

What are they?

Motion detectors spot the movement in areas covered by the security sensors. Motion detectors transmit high frequency radio wave signals.

They give a warning that someone is entering into your home.

Different kinds of motion detectors & how they work:

Infrared Sensors:

Motion detectors use infrared light to detect heat changes, i.e. when a person moves across this light it detects them with the help of the infrared sensors.

If a person moves in the range of the motion sensors, the alarm is activated.

Infrared sensors are cheaper than microwave sensors and ultrasonic sensors.

Infrared sensors are generally smaller and very reliable.

Vibration Sensors:

It detects a person through vibration.

Many car alarms have this feature to alert the owner that something has bumped into their car.

Photoelectric Sensors:

Some motion detection systems use lasers and photoelectric beams.

The laser is shot across to the other side of the room or doorway.

If the laser is interrupted the unit's alarm signal is activated.

Ultrasonic sensors :

They use a frequency around 30kHz.

The transmitter bounces the waves of walls, furniture, windows and ceilings and when the room has stabilized, the alarm is armed.

Acoustic Sensors:

They can detect the energy produced by any kind of sound, including breaking glass.

In the case of breaking glass from window intrusions, the pattern of the sound emitted is detected.
By: Robert Marcus

How to Check a Home Security System

How to Check a Home Security System by eHow Home & Garden Editor

After choosing the right home security system for you and your family, it's time to make sure everything is working properly.

Keeping your home safe is what the security system has been installed for, but making sure it is in working order is the key to staying safe night after night

Step 1:
Set the alarm off intentionally to make sure the alert sounds are loud enough and can be heard throughout the house. Not only does this verify that everything works correctly, it also helps you and your family knows just what to expect in case of emergency. Professionals recommend testing your alarm system at least once each month.

Step 2:
Check each security box to make sure the batteries are fresh. If someone breaks into your home and a portion or all of your alarm system isn't in proper working order, then your safety is at risk. Double check each battery every six months to determine whether or not you should change them out.

Step 3:
Ask questions of your home security system provider. Many times there is so much to remember when setting up your alarm system and some people simply forget to ask questions about the specifics of testing your particular system. Simply pick up the phone and give your service department a call to find out what should be done to keep your alarm system up to date.

Step 4:
Double check your land line and make sure your phone is working properly. Most security systems run in conjunction with your home phone line and have a tendency not to work correctly if there are any problems with the line.

Step 5:
Examine your system to see what is missing from your alarm. Many companies offer all kinds of additions that might be necessary or helpful for both you and your family. Look at what features you think would make you safer each night.

Home Security Tips - Shocking Ways to Prevent Home Invasion

Home Security Tips - Shocking Ways to Prevent Home Invasion by Jack Krohn

Just in the last few days here in Colorado Springs there has been a huge surge of home invasions. It seems to be the crime of choice any more.

As recently as two years ago the term was barely in its' infancy; hardly a soul had heard of it. By way of explanation "home invasion" is a term coined by police departments to describe a home burglary when the occupants are home. As you may know most burglaries happen when the occupants are gone.

Since the possibility of a confrontation is drastically heightened, the odds of injury or death to the occupants go way up. Not to mention the old saying of 'man's home is his castle' the occupants are violated by the perps in a home invasion.

That's what is so scary about these crimes-the very real possibility of assault, injury, rape, or even death to you and members of your inner sanctum-your family.

Believe it or not 90% of all home invasions are preventable according to police experts. Of all crimes 17%, or one out of six a home was entered by the bad guys. A burglary happens every 15 seconds. AND perhaps the most important stat is this: The average burglar will spend no more than 2 minutes trying to get in.

Just think about it. If you can find a way to keep the bad guys out for two minutes chances are pretty good they'll find another target.

NOW THE SHOCKER! Most home invasions happen right thru the front door. Seriously! Either the occupants open the door or the door is forced open. No matter-THE FRONT DOOOR. I mean c'mon what is the peephole for?

Are you one of those trusting folks (like I used to be) that when you answer the doorbell or a knock at the door you automatically open it? Be Honest. Once you open the door an inch or two it doesn't take much to force it open all the way.

Make sure you have a peephole, deadbolt locks that you actually lock and if possible solid hardwood doors. And last but not least your home should have at least two maybe three locations (one by the front door) where you keep non lethal self defense weapons such as pepper sprays, stun guns, or maybe even a Taser.

Remember that the home intruder, like the burglar, has three big enemies light, sound, and time. The more obstacles you can put in his way the safer your home will be. For sure keep your front door locked and don't open it until you know who it is.

Reasons To Install A Security Camera In Your Home Or Work Place

Reasons To Install A Security Camera In Your Home Or Work Place by Ryan Richards

Most trustworthy way to obtain extensive home security and surveillance is to install a security camera.

They provide solution to monitor and record what is going around at your home and business while you are not there.

Cameras are a highly crucial part to intensify security of our home and business.

To keep excellent control on your home/business surveillance cameras is one of the most effective ways.

They can be placed distinctly around your home and office.

Reasons to install a surveillance camera in your home or work place

Security cameras are financially manageable.

However, when it's planned, there are certain things a burglar will look for when staking out a possible break-in, and there are steps the homeowner can take to minimize this risk.

This is a good checklist before leaving your home empty or for beefing up your protection against theft:

Study your house from the street, and look for any valuables that may be visible from the street. Don't give thieves a reason to show up.

Before leaving for any length of time, ensure that all windows and doors are locked, including the door to your garage. Many home invasion robberies come through garage doors and inner doors to the houses. Doors should have deadbolt locks with a one-inch throw and reinforced strike plate.

Place a piece of wood or metal in the track of any sliding doors to prevent opening

Don't leave your house in darkness when you're away, create a sense of activity by using timers on lights, radios and televisions.

Install low-voltage lighting outdoors to keep your surrounding yard well lit. Install motion detectors in dark areas along the sides and back of house to alert you of any intruders. Suspend your newspaper delivery while you're away and ask your neighbor to collect your mail. You may even ask them to park in your driveway while you're away.

Never leave a message on your answering machine that says you're on vacation.Keep any shrubbery near your walkway or entrance trimmed; removing any possible hiding places. Think about planting cactus or rosebushes under windows that may be especially vulnerable. Advise your neighborhood watch that you'll be away.

Ensure your security system is activated when you leave. Etch your name on all electronic equipment to serve as a deterrent as well as assisting police in the recovery your property. It's more difficult to sell stolen property that has the owners name on it. Make a video tape of your possessions and record the serial numbers.

Get a safe, not just for your jewels, but for important paperwork as well. Identity theft is a crime that's on the rise and you want to minimize any availability to your personal records. The more you can do to deter an intruder, the better your chances are that your home will not be chosen as a target.

Studies have shown that if it takes a burglar more than four or five minutes to break into a home, they'll move on. If you increase their vulnerability by adding a well-lit area or a barking dog, that minimizes your risk again.

Wireless Alarm Keep Your Home Secure

Wireless Alarm Keep Your Home Secure by Edson Buchanan

Not long ago, people across America felt secure at home. When they left their homes, they usually didn't worry about crimes like burglary or vandalism. As crime rates increased, people began to make sure the door was locked whenever they weren't home. Today, a lot of people even lock their doors when they are at home

When door locks were not enough to make people feel safe in their own homes, they began buying security alarms for their houses. First came house alarm systems that would make loud noisy alarms when an intruder tried to enter. More sophisticated video security systems followed closely behind.

The complexity and functions of alarm systems are continually evolving. There are firms which specialize in overseeing the security and alarm systems of a number of houses at once from a centrally located office. When an alarm is set off in one of these homes, they are responsible for alerting the police, the fire department, or the EMT services.

The new wireless alarm system is much less expensive to install in a house than the old wired systems were. As with most things electronic, alarm systems are becoming more advanced while the cost is decreasing. Alarm systems are unlike most other technological wonders, though, in that as the systems become more advanced, it's easy to upgrade an existing system instead of needing to purchase an entire new system. Therefore, a person doesn't have to face the expense of changing their system every year to keep it current.

Now that the new wireless alarm systems can be installed so much more easily than the older systems were, it's also possible for only one alarm technician to install the entire system. Gone are the days when he would have to enlist the help of electricians and other support people to aid in the installation. And, after all, the fewer people who know about your system, the fewer there are who are able to get into your house by hacking through it

Most companies will even conduct a free price quote on site at the home in order to better tell the customer which add-on features for their wireless alarm will best benefit that household. Some of these features include monitored fire alarms, pet immunity, and additional video surveillance.

Home Security With Camera: Providing Peace Of Mind

Home Security With Camera: Providing Peace Of Mind by Andrew Stratton

Our homes are one place where we always want to feel safe and secure from danger or harm. Both physical and emotional security are important in order to feel safe. There are a number of steps we can take so that our homes remain secure and we have peace of mind. We can make sure that no unwelcome intruders enter our homes without our knowledge. This perimeter of security can be accomplished by setting up cameras both inside and outside the home. If you have a heat sensing camera or infrared camera this will allow you to spot intruders even in the dark.

If you combine a infrared camera with a motion detector light, movement, even in the dead of night will cause lights to come on and at the same time, the camera can begin recording or viewing the creature that has caused the signal. A setup without the heat sensor may film continuously, or still pictures can be snapped periodically according to a preset schedule.

Another function of the camera in a home security system is to determine who might have entered your house without your knowledge. This would work especially well if you have a web camera so that you can check up on things in your home even while you are at work or gone for the day. So long as you have access to the internet, you can log into your web camera and see everything in your home that the camera can see.

Homeowners who have pets they leave at home during the day can use a home security camera to check and make sure the feline or canine friends are not getting into too much mischief while they are gone. Other people use a web camera or a home surveillance camera to check on household help or child care personnel while they are in the home. There are numerous documented cases where actions caught on video tape have helped to convict thieves of jewelry or other valuables; have helped to put those abusing children into custody; and have helped to terminate the employment of those who are not performing duties diligently.

Another helpful feature of surveillance cameras is in the homes of elderly parents or other relatives. With a camera in the home of the parent, it's easy to check in periodically in order to assure that the parent has not fallen or become ill or in any way needs help in activities of daily living.

The complexity and functions of alarm systems are continually evolving. There are firms which specialize in overseeing the security and alarm systems of a number of houses at once from a centrally located office. When an alarm is set off in one of these homes, they are responsible for alerting the police, the fire department, or the EMT services.

There are other reasons for use of a home security camera. For example, a parent may want to keep tabs on a child who is home along. Rarely will a parent not object to a child drinking or smoking while they are not supposed to be doing so. A surveillance camera will help to prevent this problem. You may not be able to stop such behavior completely, but you can prevent it from repeatedly happening in your home. This is no different when you are looking at the home security planning, everybody works differently but everybody needs to plan. There are so many aspects to home security so it is important that you define first which are needed in your case, some of the different parts of home security include security alarm systems, security camera systems, heat detection systems and smoke detection systems to name a few. Each one of these needs to be carefully considered and planned to integrate into the others, so the first aspect of planning must be which home security systems are you looking to implement, this can be commonly referred to as a Home Security Plan

Once you have decided on what features you need to include into your home security planning then you need to draw up the framework to which you are going to implement the systems. This can be classed as the design stage of the project, you need to take a step back from your house and then draw up a detailed plan of where you are implementing the different systems. Look at your house and decide on which areas you need to secure and how you are going to secure these areas.

If you are implementing alarm systems and motion systems then decide if these can be integrated into one system. Decide within your planning on where you are adding your sensors how they will be wired into your house and where they will be wired. Also within the plan know on where the alarm console will be located, how you are going to implement the system and whether you have the skills to install the system or whether you will need a contractor.

Be sure to do your homework on pricing of surveillance systems and what they have to offer, if you are looking at a cost effective solution then whilst you are at the planning stage scale each component in order of importance, if the project becomes too expensive then you can drop the least important aspect. Factor in the cost of a contractor should this be required, if you are doing wiring or work on the house you may not have the skill set to carry this out, if this is the case then you will need a contractor. If you are looking for a complex security system then this may only be obtainable through a contractor, this then will draw in extra costs.

The home security planning stage is the most important part of the project, if you do all the hard work at this stage then you should not have any unpleasant surprises when you are ready to implement the system at a later date. Research the different products that are on the market and draw up a short list of which ones suite your requirements most. Once you have a short list then you can compare each one, call in the company for a demonstration or a quote should this be necessary or simple choose which security system will be the best for your home.

Apartment Security Basics

Apartment Security Basics by Andrew Walker

Living in an apartment or condo can be convenient, but you should never forget about security. Having a security guard at the entrance does not guarantee security. Below are some tips that might help you to improve your apartment security.

When you look for an apartment or condo for rent, always ask yourself: Is this a safe area? Is this apartment complex safe? If you have doubts, talk to the owner to see if he/she can get things fixed such as improving the lighting and repairing gate locks. Don't rent an apartment or condo if you think security is an issue there.

When you live in an apartment or condo, don't forget to keep your doors and windows locked when you are not at home. When you move in an apartment or condo, it will be good idea to have the original locks changed because some unknown people might have the key to the original lock. If allowed, you might also want to have a deadbolt lock to ensure higher level of security.

Don't leave the door unlocked even if you are at home. Don't open your door for strangers, even if they mention the name of your neighbors. Use the peephole to have a good look at the visitor before you open the door and require identification. Don't admit strangers through the gate as a favor. Also, get to know your neighbors and watch for suspicious people.

If possible, you might want to install additional security system such as home security alarms. If you do not plan to live in that apartment or condo for a long time, you can consider portable door or window alarms or a wireless home security system, so that they can come with you when you move. Also, getting renter's insurance can be an additional means to protect your assets.

Important Home Security Tips On Purchasing An Alarm System

Important Home Security Tips On Purchasing An Alarm System by Jayen Woods

Many householders and just about all commercial enterprises acquire an alarm system to protect their property and their possessions. But a number of householders still do not see the need to install an alarm system. They think a burglary won't happen to them, it only happens to other people.

But the 2005 FBI crime report showed that nationally in the United States of America a burglary occurs every 15 seconds and on average the dollar loss per burglary in 2005 was $1,725.

Just about any business enterprise will have one, in some form or another. When searching for alarms, you ought to take your time to discover the correct system and the correct prices for you. If you purchase at the right time, your actual system could end up being one hundred percent free.

Many Companies such as ADT frequently run special offers to get you to purchase their alarms and services. In a few cases, they'll give you a free system provided you sign up for one of their monitoring services for an established time. Depending on the offer this could be 1, 2 or 5 years. They might in addition have offers that give you free service if you purchase an alarm from them. Either way, you can save a considerable amount of money from your income.

These businesses will often come to your abode and set up the alarm for you. They will demonstrate how to run the alarm system, and show you the best way on how to deploy the system in the best possible manor, so as not to activate an alarm mistakenly. Whilst it could take a little time to become accustomed to the slight change in your household habits (you'll have to remember to arm and disarm the alarm), you and your folks will very quickly get accustomed to the change in your abode, and you may well notice that you are actually sleeping better at night because you now feel someone is watching out for you.

It's very important to check the companies guarantee. If there's a problem with your alarm, the company should aid you in the resolving of the problem, or should replace whatever parts aren't functioning. Whilst buying your alarm system and especially when contracting a service, make a point of asking a considerable number of questions about any hidden fees. Exactly what service you'll acquire for your money, and the exact period and extent of the guarantee that they can offer. Badly installed alarm systems will not do you any good if they malfunction all the time, or give false alarms as this will just leave you still feeling vulnerable.

Remember according to the FBI report in 2005 there were more than 1.4 million home invasions and 61.4% of residential burglaries happened between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., during the day. And according to Simon Hakim, Temple University a home is 2 to 3 times more likely to be burglarized without a security system.

So what are you waiting for, act now before you become the next victim.

Surveillance Cameras And Home Security

Surveillance Cameras And Home Security by David Moze

Surveillance Cameras and Home Security---A security camera system or CCTV (Closed - Circult television) provides access to information otherwise unavailable to you and to law enforcement offials when your home or business has been invaded. Most people do not consider CCTV necessary to a good home security system. But your normal magnetic sensors and MOTION DETECTORS only alert you and others at the moment of invasion.

CCTV's are primarily designed to record an invasion of privacy and to assist the police catching the offenders. But,while their primary focus is recording criminal activity, security cameras operate as a powerful criminal deterrent. Intruders are less likely to approach an area scanned by a camera because, not only is their motion being detected, but more importantly , their identity is being detected.

Home Security---An intercom system for HOME SECUTITY begins with the front door. Knowing who is ringing the door bell before you answer it is extremely valuable. Peaking out through cracks or from behind windows is not the most effective method, to be sure

While all front door intercom systems give you the capability of hearing and speaking with the person at the front door, the most reliable system give you the ability to see who is there without ever letting them know that you are even home

There are many affordaable intercom systems that enable you to visualize your prospective visitor from your master station. . Operating lights through home automation is a function of both convenience and home security

As a matter of convenience, with a remote control or a timer, you have the ability to dim lights or just turn them off and on. The remote empowers you to change the intensity of the light from any position or area in the house. Before home automation, you would have to get up out of your chair or bed to turn the lights off or on. With a home-automated system, a remote control or a timer will do the moving for you.

As a matter of security, remote or timer operated lights are highly effective resources. Most intruders will only invade a dark home when they think no one is there. By placing your lights on an X-10 or another home automation controller, you can easily make it look as if you are home when you are away.

The control has the ability to activate several appliances—television, lights, radios – at various times throughout the day to give the impression of human presence. Not only at specifically programmed times, but you can also program the timers to alter times. With this unique programming, anyone watching your house will not see methodical automation. Instead, there will appear to be a definite human presence since the timing on the lights will not be mechanical

Home Security Tips-shocking Ways To Prevent Home Invasion

Home Security Tips-shocking Ways To Prevent Home Invasion by Jack Krohn

Just in the last few days here in Colorado Springs there has been a huge surge of home invasions. It seems to be the crime of choice any more.As recently as two years ago the term was barely in its' infancy; hardly a soul had heard of it.

NOW THE SHOCKER! Most home invasions happen right thru the front door. Seriously! Either the occupants open the door or the door is forced open. No matter-THE FRONT DOOR. I mean c'mon what is the peephole for?

Are you one of those trusting folks (like I used to be) that when you answer the doorbell or a knock at the door you automatically open it? Be Honest. Once you open the door an inch or two it doesn't take much to force it open all the way

What Makes A Good Home Security System

What Makes A Good Home Security System

The interesting fact about what makes a good home security system is that it should guard your home while being unobtrusive at the same time. When you go to sleep at night with the alarm system activated, there should be a comfortable feeling of security as if you are barricaded within a fort surrounded by a moat. But no one wants to live in a home that looks like it belongs to the national defense system or is located in a war zone. There should be no barb wire fences or prison yard search lights in towers.

Yet, you want to feel like you certainly do have the best defenses possible in your home. Obviously, there will be certain features a home security system must have in order to achieve this level of effectiveness. You need to understand what kind of system will provide the most protection whether you live in a house, condominium, town home or apartment.

The first step is to list the places where someone could enter your home. These places include the front door, back door, first floor windows and basement exterior door and windows. Of course, burglars have entered homes by using unusual means too, including down chimneys or through roof skylights. Your list should include all areas of possible entry even if they seem silly or highly unlikely to be used.

Determining what makes a good home security system should also include an analysis of the exterior area around your home. Your best first defense against burglary lies in knowing the event is about to take place before it actually occurs. If you know someone is on your front porch before they jimmy the lock, your odds of stopping the event are much higher. Also, your yard at night is full of shadows and bushes which make great hiding spots. Your exterior security system should minimize the number of shadowed areas around your house.

A Comprehensive View

Security systems can be very simple or extremely elaborate. In all cases, what makes a good home security system is the ability to 1) keep unwanted persons out of your home, 2) give adequate notice that an unlawful entry is about to occur or already has occurred, and 3) provide other safety features for your protection such as a fire alarm.

There are other important considerations related to your home security system that have nothing to do with the system components. These considerations include deciding which brand security system to buy, the terms of the contract, and the ability of the system to be upgraded or expanded when necessary. Too many people don’t spend enough time analyzing the financial feasibility of the security system contract and find themselves stuck in an overpriced contract for an outdated system.

What makes a good home security system? A good home security system is one that doesn’t have any “holes” in it. "Holes" in this case means that the system doesn’t cover some of the possible places of entry, while leaving other areas vulnerable to illegal entry. The system should be low maintenance and reliable at all times.

Deciding which home security system to install is a major decision, because you – and your family – have a lot at stake if the system is inadequate.

Securing Your Business, Home And Office

Securing Your Business, Home And Office by Quality Door

There is nothing worse than believing that your business, office or home is safe from an unwanted intruder entering when you are not there, only to find out that it’s actually much easier than you imagined.

The two most vulnerable areas in your business, home or office are going to be the windows and the doors. It’s going to be easy to increase the security of your doors. There are many things that you will be able to easily implement that will definitely make it harder for an intruder to get through.

The deadlock bolt on your door is going to be extremely important. This is not something that you are going to want to skimp out on. There are many good quality locks and deadlocks out there, and one good company is Yale. Yale locks are going to offer you the security that you are looking for, and something that is going to last for a very long time. You can easily find a Yale lock searching on the internet and for a great price and the perfect design.

When you are looking for your Yale deadlock it’s important that you are looking to see how long and thick that they lock is itself. The longer and thicker that it is the better the security is going to be. It’s going to be much harder to break something that is 3 inches thick than it is to break something that is 1 inch thick. So just keep that in mind. You do not need to buy a Yale lock, but it is important that you purchase a brand that is known for their quality

For further security there are other things that you will want to do and most of the things that you will need to do is going to depend on the type of door that you are looking to increase the security for.

If you have a sliding glass door than you are definitely going to need to improve the security here. Sliding glass doors are one of the easiest places for an intruder to get in, all they need to do is take it off of the rail. In order to make this harder for them to do you are going to need to implement a few things. You will need to purchase a kit that is going to make it difficult to remove the sliding glass door off of the track. This door hardware kit is fairly easy to find online, but it is essential to improving the security.

Another good idea is to start looking into a good alarm system. This will help to increase the overall security as well as the small changes that you have made to the doors. It’s important to feel safe, but it’s even more important to actually be safe.

Fully Protecting Your Assets Of Your Home

Fully Protecting Your Assets Of Your Home by Lance Mohr

If you recently have made the purchase of a new home in the Tampa real estate market, there are still some other important steps that you need to take in order to fully get your house in order (so to speak). Once you have invested in a residence, you need to make certain that you have appropriate homeowners insurance in place. As part of that process, you need to make sure that you take and make an appropriate inventory of the valuables in your home, of the property that you have in your home.

If you have recently taken out a homeowner’s insurance policy that covers, among other things, the contents of personal property within your home, your work is not yet done. Many people think that they’ve done all they need to do simply by going out and purchasing a policy of homeowners insurance. But, again, there is more that must be done

You need to make an inventory of your personal property. Historically, people relied on lists of items that they had within their homes. Eventually, people began to take photographs of valuable items within their homes. While these lists are all well and good, there is a better method of creating an inventory of your possessions” recording the items with a digital video recorder

Using a record you will create the best possible record of what types of personal items that you have within your house. In addition, most camcorders allow you to date stamp the time the images were taken and saved. Once again, this really does represent the most efficient and effective manner in which you thoroughly can document the possessions that you maintain in your home.If you ever are unfortunate enough to have to file a claim with the company that provides your homeowners insurance, the camcorder recordings of your property will be an invaluable piece of information and will assist greatly in ensuring prompt payment on your claim.

Obviously, if you are faced with the difficult task of filing a claim after you have endured a loss, you absolutely do not want to have to spend a great deal of time trying to justify and document what you have lost. With a digital recording of your property, you will be in a far better position to realize a quick resolution, a favorable resolution of your claim

New Home Security – An Overview

New Home Security – An Overview by Lance Mohr

Do-It-Yourself

For the mechanically nimble, there are on the market a number of do-it-yourself home security kits that a person can install by his or her self.

Generally speaking, these products are designed to -- at least one some level -- wire windows and certain doorways for sound. In other words, these do-it-yourself kits allow a person to wire windows and doors in such a way that when the system or unit is activated, and a door or window subsequently is opened, an alarm will sound.

Calling in the Experts

When a person turns to a consideration of installing a home security system, more often than not he or she is going to turn to the assistance of professionals in the field. A professional home security company, as a rule, not only will install a home security system but will also provide at least some sort of monitoring of the system.

As an example, if the alarm attached to a home security system is activated by an intruder or otherwise after installation, an electronic notification will pass to the offices of the home security system. The communication with the home security system’s offices is instantaneous. The home security company is then expected automatically to notify the appropriate and proper authorities.

Man’s Best Friend

If you are strapped for cash and simply do not have room in your budget for any sort of installed electronic home security system, dogs have proven to be a sound deterrent to criminal intent on invading your home space. (Of course, in the long run, you may actually end up spending more keeping a dog than you would an alarm system. But, as is obvious to most, pets provide other benefits as well.)

Statistics have demonstrated that a home in which a dog resides is significantly less likely to be burgled successfully than one without the presence of such a lively protector.By taking the time to consider which form of home security is the best course for you, you will be in the best position of making sure that your new home purchase, your own slice of Tampa real estate, remains safe and secure.
